The Adamson University Lady Falcons dispatched the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde Lady Blazers in three sets, 25-22, 25-13, 25-20, to chalk up their third consecutive victory in the 2025 V League Collegiate Challenge at the Paco Arena, Tuesday.
Shaina Nitura once again led Adamson with 18 points, eight receptions, and seven digs, while rookie Abegail Segui earned Best Player of the Game honors after delivering 11 points on eight attacks, two blocks, and an ace, along with five digs.
The Lady Blazers threatened to extend the match after building a 10-3 lead in the third set, but Shaina Nitura sparked Adamson’s fiery comeback, igniting a 10-3 counterattack that knotted the score at 13-all.
From there, the Lady Falcons rode the hot hands of Nitura, MG Del Moral, and Kim Rocha, who conspired for a late 5-1 burst that pushed them ahead, 23-20. Rocha’s off-the-block hit and Nitura’s ace fittingly closed out the sweep.
Adamson set the tone early by grinding out a tight opening-set win before shifting into high gear in the second. Shaina Nitura strung together three straight points, MG Del Moral converted on a quick attack, and setter Fhei Sagaysay fooled the defense with a crafty 1-2 play as the Lady Falcons pulled away for a commanding 21-12 lead, eventually cruising to a two-set advantage.
Zamantha Nolasco was the lone bright spot for Saint Benilde with 13 points, while Shahanna Lleses chipped in seven and Cristy Ondangan added six in the Lady Blazers’ first loss after a 3-0 start.
Before returning to the V-League, Adamson will compete in the Shakey’s Super League Invitational set from August 22 to 24 in Mandaue City, Cebu. The Lady Falcons will then face the Arellano University Lady Chiefs on August 30 at 10 a.m. at the Paco Arena.
