The Akari Baby Chargers secured a podium finish in the Akari U16 Girls’ Basketball Invitational after a commanding 48-27 win over a short-handed St. Paul College of Pasig (SPCP) squad on Sunday at the Victoria Sports Tower.
After narrowly edging SPCP in their first encounter, the Baby Chargers left no doubt in the rematch, pulling away early and never looking back.
Tiu once again led the charge for Akari, continuing her steady presence throughout the tournament. Meanwhile, SPCP’s top scorer Brooklyn Sanchez was sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained in their semifinal loss to Tripple B.
Despite missing the bronze medal match, Sanchez was named to the Mythical Team with a tournament-leading 170 statistical points. Tiu joined her on the elite list, earning a Mythical Team nod of her own with 99 statistical points.
