UST cruises past Miriam College for fourth straight win

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Junior Growling Tigresses continued to assert their dominance in the Akari U16 Girls’ Basketball Invitational, drubbing Miriam College, 79-34, to notch their fourth consecutive victory at the 3rd Fitness Lab on Thursday.

Uriel Capinpin delivered an all-around performance of 31 points, six rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Team captain Noelle Arciaga and Jesabel Anacan added 10 points apiece for the undefeated Tigresses.

Rhyanna Almosera was the lone bright spot for Miriam College, posting a near double-double of 10 points and nine rebounds. Selena Canda and Adrianna Membrere chipped in nine and eight points, respectively, as Miriam dropped to 0-4 in the tournament.

UST did most of its damage inside, racking up 60 points in the paint on an efficient 63.8% shooting. The Tigresses also dominated in transition, scoring 36 fast-break points compared to just four by Miriam.
