The Adamson Pep Squad made a golden statement on the international stage, clinching three gold medals at the Korea Open Cheerleading Championships 2025, held at the Gyeyang Gymnasium in Incheon, South Korea, on June 7.
Representing the Philippines with pride, the squad ruled the Team Coed Premier Level 7, Group Stunts Elite Level 6, and Group Stunts Premier Level 7 divisions, cementing their place among the best in the world of cheerleading.
“This triple gold win is a reminder for us that a lot of people really invested in this trip and competition,” said Coach Jam Lorenzo. “We wouldn’t want to waste the opportunity, especially since it’s our first time competing abroad again since 2018. So we had no other way but to go up and win it.”
Their participation in the Korea Open came after a silver-medal finish in last year’s UAAP Cheerdance Competition, fueling their desire to push further.
“After that silver finish, we had the chance to push through with our intentions of competing internationally—with the support of Akari,” Lorenzo shared. “We were invited to join the Korea Open, and we gladly accepted the challenge.”
Despite their strong performance, the road to Korea was not without hurdles.
“Honestly, the biggest challenge was the visa process. Everything was delayed—passports, flights, hotel bookings,” he said. “One of our members even had to be sent home after getting chickenpox. But we remained hopeful and focused. We adjusted accordingly.”
More than just a competition, the Korea trip became a moment of reflection and growth for the team.
“It was all about being grateful,” Lorenzo said. “We considered this trip a reward for making it back on the podium after the UAAP. Also, a reminder that we shouldn’t stop pushing our limits.”
Now back on home soil, the Adamson Pep Squad is shifting its full focus to the UAAP Season 88 Cheerdance Competition, hoping to finally reclaim the crown last won in Season 80.
“It’s an easy way of saying, ‘Walang pahinga. Tuloy-tuloy ang laban,’” Lorenzo emphasized. “It’s a reminder for us to keep pushing toward our ultimate goal.”
Throughout this journey, the unwavering support from Akari and the Adamson community played a crucial role.
“Akari’s support has always been vital. We are really grateful all the time,” said Lorenzo. “We promise to do our best in every performance. To all aspiring Filipino cheerleaders—always have that burning passion. It will open doors to unexpected opportunities. Stay humble and always be grateful.”
With the Korea Open behind them and their sights now set on UAAP, Lorenzo leaves no doubt that the Adamson Pep Squad will keep striving to reach new heights.
“We’re eyeing the UAAP Cheerdance Competition next,” he confirmed. “It won’t be easy, but we’re ready to take this team to another level. We want to deliver a routine that will win hearts—and impress all the spectators.”
