Nxled Chameleons’ Italian head coach Ettore Guidetti expressed his satisfaction following the team’s success in the 2025 PVL Rookie Draft, which saw the Chameleons address key areas with two promising additions.

The team strengthened its outside spiker position by selecting former Ateneo standout Lyann De Guzman with the fourth overall pick, a move that Guidetti said went exactly according to plan.

“The draft in the first round went in the way as we expected. We had the possibility to pick up Lyann De Guzman, so we are really happy about that,” said Guidetti. “She’s the person that will fit amazingly in our team.”

In the second round, Nxled selected May Ann Nuique. Head coach Ettore Guidetti saw her as a valuable asset to the Chameleons’ system, thanks to her versatility as both a middle blocker and opposite.

“In my opinion and consideration, May Ann is the best who will perfectly fit with the double role of middle blocker and opposite in our team,” he said.

Guidetti is also familiar with what Nuique brings to the court, having previously coached her at Adamson University, where he serves as a consultant and assistant coach.

Guidetti emphasized that the team entered the draft with a clear goal: to improve their offensive firepower.

“The idea, first of all, was to raise our level of spiking, and I think we succeeded in this.”

Beyond talent, the veteran coach also highlighted the character of the new recruits.

“Right now, I’m really happy to welcome to our team not only two very good players, but also two very good persons.”

Earlier in the offseason, the Chameleons parted ways with veterans Bang Pineda, Ivy Perez, and Anne Esguerra, along with young middle blocker Lia Pelaga. To bolster their roster, they brought in two up-and-coming additions: libero Janel Delerio and opposite hitter Jovelyn Fernandez.

With the PVL on Tour kicking off on June 22, Nxled Nation won’t have to wait long to see the new-look Chameleons in action.
