Nxled made a swift turnaround from a tough loss to Creamline by stunning defending champion PLDT in the Premier Volleyball League Invitational at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday.
Natnicha Saelao put up a playmaking masterclass as EST Cola.
The Chameleons wheeled back into strong contention with a statement 25-19, 25-22, 25-20 victory over the High Speed Hitters.
Nxled is now level with EST Cola, Farm Fresh and PLDT at 1-1, making the championship race too close to call as the tournament takes a break Wednesday.
Creamline is the lone unbeaten team at 2-0.
MJ Phillips, who led the Chameleons with 13 points, including four blocks, and collected seven digs, was happy the way her team responded from Monday’s 20-25, 23-25, 25-23, 20-25 defeat to the Cool Smashers.
“I think after yesterday’s game, we put in a lot of work. We just wanted to showcase to everyone how much we’ve put in over the last couple of weeks, and thankfully, it showed out here today,” Phillips said after the 90-minute romp.
Myla Pablo also bounced back from her seven-point showing against Creamline with a 12 points, including three blocks, and nine digs while Lyann De Guzman exploded for 10 kills that went along with nine digs and six receptions.
“Well, today, I think that simply confirms that we are playing pretty good volleyball. Yesterday, I should say that we played another pretty good match. And today, we’re confirming our pretty moment of volleyball playing. We’re getting better,” said Chameleons head coach Ettore Guidetti.
“Today, definitely, the block and defense has worked better compared to yesterday. We served really, really much better. And this is a connection that helps a lot if you want to win against a very good team,” the Italian mentor added.
Nxled gets another opportunity to build on its momentum on Thursday against EST Cola, who made quick work of Farm Fresh, 25-21, 25-16, 25-22, for a bounce back victory.
