ADAMSON gained a share of the women’s lead after repulsing University of the East, 25-18, 25-23, 25-16, in the V-League Collegiate Challenge Sunday at the Gameville Central Park in Mandaluyong City.
Joy Aseo paced the Lady Falcons with 17 points on 13-of-26 kills, two service aces and two blocks, Nigerian Frances Mordi was also solid with 11 points, nine receptions and five digs.
Fhei Sagaysay tossed in 13 excellent sets while Adamson libero Juris Manuel backstopped Mordi with eight digs.
For coach JP Yude, things are going well for the Lady Falcons even without their ace Shai Nitura, as the defending champions displayed tremendous character in the comeback win in the second set.
“So far, so good, kasi halos lahat naman ng girls showed up. And sa two games namin, nakita ko naman how they improved. Thankful lang sa Lord on how they responded sa game, especially don sa second set; how we were able to get through,” said Yude.
With a 2-0 record, Adamson joined Arellano University, which stunned traditional UAAP power University of Santo Tomas on top of the standings.
It was the former Baby Falcons who carried the fight for the Lady Warriors, as Francheska Adem took the scoring mantle with 15 points, including two service aces, while Janessa Buhay, who had a 23 points in the opener, tallied 11-of-33 kills and collected five digs. UE fell to 1-1.
