Adamson University (ADU) Baby Falcons flexed its dominance with a convincing straight-sets win over the University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) Junior Fighting Maroons, 25-12, 25-19, 25-11), in the first round of the UAAP Season 88 girls’ volleyball tournament of held at the Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City.

The Lady Falcons put on a clinical display, overpowering the UPIS Lady Junior Fighting Maroons in just an hour and three minutes, improving their tournament standing at 2-0 with another strong performance.

Leading the charge for Adamson was Francheska Adem, who topped the scoring with eight points, dominating both at the net and on the service line. Adem also led in blocks (2) and aces (3), proving to be a complete threat throughout the match.
Supporting her were teammates Ella Gonzalvo and Janessa Buhay, who contributed seven and six points respectively, with Buhay seeing on-court action since returning from an ACL injury.

Adamson’s defensive wall was anchored by team captain Maegan Pineda, who tallied 13 digs and 11 excellent receptions, showcasing her reliability in the back row. Setter Alexa Jamila Katigbak facilitated the offense smoothly with 13 excellent sets, allowing ADU’s hitters to execute efficiently.

On offense, ADU dominated with 33 spike points out of 89 attempts, outpacing UPD’s total scoring output of 42 points in attacks alone. They also capitalized on UPD’s errors, scoring 25 free points off opponent mistakes. However, Adamson will need to work on minimizing their own errors, as they committed a total of 31 unforced errors.
