In Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, on Sunday, August 3, the Alas Pilipinas women’s volleyball team ended the first leg of the SEA V.League on a strong note, beating Indonesia 25‑20, 25‑20, 16‑25, 25‑13 to claim their third consecutive bronze medal in the competition.

Despite opening the leg with losses to Thailand and Vietnam, the Filipinas finished with a 1‑2 win-loss record, which was enough to secure third place in the standings.

The match itself saw solid starts in the first two sets for the Philippines before Indonesia stormed back in the third, but the fourth proved decisive. With an 18‑6 run, Alas Pilipinas seized control and closed out the match emphatically.

Team leaders stepped up when it mattered most. Angel Canino, recently awarded Best Outside Spiker for the leg, delivered key points down the stretch, including five of the last six in the fourth set. Meanwhile, Alyssa Solomon and others provided consistent penalty‐stopping defense and scoring runs throughout the match.

Their earlier matches set the stage. Against the host Thailand, Alas Pilipinas captured the first set but fell in four sets—a performance that earned praise from Thailand’s coach Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai for their improved floor defense and competitiveness. In their second match, a spirited rally helped them steal one set from Vietnam, though they ultimately lost 1‑3.

With this podium finish, the team now gears up for Leg 2, scheduled for August 8–10 in Vietnam, where they aim to finally push beyond bronze and continue building momentum ahead of the SEA Games.
