UST asserts mastery over Baby Chargers to book first ticket to Akari U16 Finals

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Junior Growling Tigresses overpowered the Akari Baby Chargers once again—this time in the semifinals—with a dominant 86-54 win in the Akari U16 Girls’ Basketball Invitational at the AYSN Sports Center, P. Tuazon on Saturday.

Five UST players scored in double figures, led by Uriel Capinpin’s 20-point performance. Rhiane Perez and team captain Noelle Arciaga chipped in 13 and 12 points, respectively, while Jesabel Anacan and Zyrene Bron added 11 each in the team’s well-balanced attack.

Cara Tiu was the lone bright spot for the Baby Chargers, finishing with 11 points.

With the win, UST remains undefeated and books a spot in the finals, eyeing the title of inaugural Akari U16 Girls’ Basketball Invitational champions. Meanwhile, Akari still has a shot at the podium as they gear up for the battle for third at the Victoria Sports Center starting at 2pm.
