Tripple B erased an eight-point second-half deficit to complete a come-from-behind win over Live Learn Hoops Brgy. QC (LLH), 47-39, in the Akari U16 Girls’ Basketball Invitational at the 3rd Fitness Lab on Friday.
Tyler Templo once again starred for Tripple B with a dominant double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds. Matia Molina and Kairi Ebao added 11 and nine points, respectively, helping secure their team’s second straight win.
LLH held a 32-24 lead with 2:11 left in the third quarter after Princess Cunanan split her free throws. But Tripple B found their rhythm late in the frame, going on a 7-0 run to close the gap to 32-31. Cunanan managed another split from the line to end the third at 33-31.
Tripple B then took full control in the final quarter. Ebao ignited an 11-0 surge that was capped by six straight points from Templo, turning the game around for a 43-33 advantage with 5:21 remaining. From there, Tripple B never looked back.
Despite the loss, LLH team captain Brianna Banquilay impressed with 15 points and 10 steals, while Cunanan chipped in 14 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
With the win, Tripple B improved to 3-2 and booked a spot in the semifinals. LLH, meanwhile, fell to 1-4.
