UST blows past Baby Chargers to remain unscathed in Akari U16

In a battle of undefeated teams, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) continued its unbeaten run to three games, dominating the Akari Baby Chargers, 68–32, in the AkariU16 Girls’ Basketball Invitational at the 3rd Fitness Lab on Wednesday.

Lhian Arciga led the Tigresses with 22 points and 13 rebounds, while Uriel Capinpin added 16 and nine boards. UST’s defense forced 25 turnovers and turned them into 41 points, putting the game out of reach early.

UST set the tone early with a 17–7 first quarter, then turned up the pressure in the second, allowing just four points while exploding for 26 of their own. Arabi and Sofia Petalcorin led a series of fastbreaks and putbacks that ballooned the lead to 43–11 at halftime.

Akari showed signs of life with a 7-2 run to start the third, led by Lillie Roth, Cara Tiu, and Solenne Tan, but UST quickly restored order and pushed the gap back to 30.

UST cruised through the fourth quarter with the game well in hand, never looking back as they secured their third straight victory and remained the lone unbeaten team in the tournament.

Tiu finished with 14 points for the Baby Chargers, which fell to a 2-1 record.
