UST wallops Tripple B to open Akari U16 Girls’ Basketball Invitational

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Junior Growling Tigresses dominated Tripple B, 100-43, to begin their Akari U16 Girls’ Basketball Invitational campaign at the Victoria Sports Tower, earlier today.

Noelle Arciaga and Sofia Petalcorin spearheaded the attack for UST with 20 points each. Team captain Jesabel Anacan contributed 16 points, while Rhiane Perez chipped in a double-double performance of 15 points and 10 rebounds.

In the opening quarter, Ashley Polo drained a triple to cap off UST’s hot start, 26-0.

Tyler Templo tried to inch Tripple B closer, scoring seven of her team’s nine points in the second frame. However, UST kept its foot on the gas pedal as its lead ballooned to 41, 51-10, at halftime.

The Junior Growling Tigresses did not look back since as they continued to capitalize on fast break opportunities to leave Tripple B in the dust.

Templo led the way for the blue shirts with 20 points, seven rebounds, and two assists, while Kairi Ebao added 12 points in 50% shooting from beyond the arc.
