The Nxled Chameleons came short against the undefeated PLDT High Speed Hitters in three sets, 30-32, 18-25, 17-25, in Pool A of the PVL 2024 Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City, Tuesday night.

Chiara Permentilla scored 15 points in 13 attacks and two blocks along with 11 excellent receptions, while Trisha Genesis contributed 12 points, seven excellent digs, and nine excellent receptions for the Chameleons who dropped to a 1-2 record.

Trailing 6-14 early in the third set, Nxled clawed its way back and cut the deficit to two, 14-16, but Erika Santos and PLDT stayed composed and shut down the Chameleons’ bid for a comeback.

In the second set, Coach Chen Gang’s squad couldn’t find an answer to PLDT’s assault, going down 0-2 after an impressive first set.

Nxled gave PLDT a scare in the extended opening set with Meegan Hart denying Elena Samoilenko entry as the former took a 25-24 lead.

However, the High Speed Hitters refused to let go of the set, once again displaying composure down the stretch and eventually outlasting the Chameleons behind Samoilenko’s off-the-block hit to end the first.

Samoilenko paced PLDT with 20 points and nine excellent receptions, while Santos had 19 points including 15 attacks and four blocks.

The Chameleons look to arrest its two-game skid as they face the Creamline Cool Smashers at the same venue on Saturday, August 3 at 1:00 p.m.
